Setting Sail

Well, it's another new year.

After our somewhat rocky departure from Mississippi, we finally made it to Daytona (a week late) and on to Gainesville, where we are now sitting in my brother's driveway. Paul graciously allowed us to take up his entire driveway for almost three weeks while we cruise the Caribbean.

We arrived on Thursday afternoon and settled in comfortably. His driveway allowed us to park perfectly level and we didn't even need to put down the jacks.

We've been having a little trouble with our bedroom slide that will have to be dealt with sooner than later, but other than that we seem to have corrected most of the current problems. By God's grace, we should be able to finish up our stay in Florida and get ourselves back to Our Alfa Shop (where needed repairs can be done) without any more down time.

Our main reason for parking here at Paul's house is so that my brother, Lee (who lives with the family), can look after Sweetie while we're gone. But our dear sweet kitty is going through another bout of unwellness reminiscent of the episode last year where we thought she was dying. She hasn't been interested in eating for the past two or three days and she has become listless and feeble, though she doesn't seem to be in any pain. Only God knows if she'll be here to greet us when we return, but I know she'll be in good, caring hands no matter what happens.

We've spent the past couple days packing for our cruise, and tomorrow we load up the car and depart for Port Canaveral where we'll board the Carnival Sunshine and spend the next twelve days cruising the eastern and southern Caribbean. I'm told it will be warm. We've had so much rainy, chilly weather, we're both craving sunshine. We'll have seven port stops, not counting Canaveral, and five sea days.

We are so ready for a vacation. Who knew that full-time RVing could be so much work?! We are both ready for a rest from our retirement.

The best things about cruising (besides the food!) are not having to cook or clean and, of course, being able to relax from all the worries of the world...at least for a little while.

When we return, we'll be well-rested from our adventures, and raring to go again.

God bless you all! Happy New Year! May 2019 deliver more joy than trouble. Safe travels one and all.

We'll be out of touch for the next two weeks - no phones, no internet. See our "Contact" page for emergency contact information while we're gone.
